CD Review: Christian Single All I Owe (November 2007)
Singer/songwriter Matthew Smith has a knack for presenting theologically rich hymns to a modern audience. And he does so with aplomb on All I Owe. Thanks to Smith's clever musicianship, the process of the old becoming new isn't a sleep-inducing one, especially on songs like "His Love Can Never Fail" and "How Helpless." Surprisingly, Smith didn't discover hymns until his college years. But after hearing All I Owe, you'll be glad he did. All these tracks are winners, especially the memorable strains of "My Lord I Did Not Choose You." --C.B
